A TOTAL of 15 people from Laiagam District in the Enga Province were injured recently at Laiagam with high-powered guns.
The incident happened when these 15 people were in a 10-seater Land Cruiser travelling to Laiagam station from Yango village.
The driver of the vehicle said they were surprised by the gunshots and at first could not tell where the these came from but later found out that the gunshots had come from their enemies with whom they fought with in 2005.
The people, who were travelling on the vehicle were from Epok tribe and those who fired the gunshots were from Tamgal tribe, both from the Laiagam District.
These two tribes first became enemies in 2005 when the wife of Thomas Malin Kapilin from Yango of Epok tribe had sexual intercourse with a man from Kyakai tribe. The wife is from the Tamgal tribe.
When Mr Kapilin took the adultery case to the court, but a fight broke out between his Epok and the Tamgal tribes, resulting in the death of 20 people, all of whom were killed with high-powered guns
